Overview
Said to hear one wish in a lifetime. One of the seven shrines of Shitennoji.
About this place
Horikoshi Shrine is a shrine in Chausuyamacho, Tennoji Ward, Osaka. Its former shrine rank was village shrine. It is said to have begun when Prince Shotoku, upon founding Shitennoji, built a hall on the scenic Chausuyama and enshrined Emperor Sushun, and it is counted as one of the Seven Shrines of Shitennoji. From its founding until the mid-Meiji era there was a moat along the south side of the grounds, and the name of the shrine is said to come from crossing this moat to worship. It has long been revered as a place that "hears one wish in a lifetime". In the Meiji period it was ranked as a village shrine.
