About this place
Mizumadera is a Tendai sect betsukaku honzan temple in Mizuma, Kaizuka, Osaka. Its mountain name is Ryukokuzan. The principal image is Sho Kanzeon Bosatsu. It is known by its popular name Mizuma Kannon. It is Temple No. 4 of the New Saigoku Thirty-Three pilgrimage. It is selected as one of Osaka's Top 100 Greens as "Mizuma Kannon and its surroundings". According to the temple's tradition, Gyoki, on the orders of Emperor Shomu, who was ill in bed, was seeking the Kannon Bosatsu who had appeared in the emperor's dream. A white swan (shiratori) appeared there and led him to the southwest.
