About this place
Ryuanji is a temple of the Honzan Shugen sect in Minoh, Osaka. Its mountain name is Minoosan. The principal image is Benzaiten, said to be one of Japan's Four Benzaiten. The precinct lies within Minoh Park. It is also regarded as the birthplace of the tomikuji (lottery), the origin of the lottery. In 2009 (Heisei 21) it revived the traditional tomikuji that hands out amulets instead of money, and holds it every year on October 10.
