About this place
Tsuyunoten Shrine is a shrine in Sonezaki 2-chome, Kita Ward, Osaka, Osaka. Its former shrine rank was village-district shrine (gosha). Its popular name is Ohatsu Tenjin. It enshrines the following five deities. According to the shrine's tradition, this place was once an isolated island floating in Osaka Bay called Sonezaki Island, where "Sumiyoshi Sumichi Sone no Kami" was worshiped. Its founding is said to be around 701 (Taiho 1), and it is regarded as one of the old sites of the "Naniwa Yasoshima Festival".
