About this place
Kanasana Shrine is a shrine in Ninomiya, Kamikawa, Kodama District, Saitama. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine (Myojin Taisha) and the Gonomiya of Musashi Province (by one theory, the Ninomiya). Its former shrine rank was Kanpei Chusha, and it is now a Beppyo Shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines. It stands at the foot of Mount Mitake (elevation 343.4 meters), on the western edge of the Kanto Plain in northwestern Saitama, and enshrines Mount Omuro (Omuro-ga-take) behind the hall as its sacred mountain. Because the mountain itself is the sacred object, the shrine has no main hall, and it is known for preserving a trace of ancient ritual.
