About this place
Sahimeyama Shrine is a shrine in Masuda, Shimane Prefecture. It is a shrine listed in the Engishiki, and its former shrine rank was village shrine. The Sahimeyama Shrine at Iwami Ginzan (Oda) is a branch of this shrine. Its main deities are Kanayamahiko no Mikoto and Kanayamahime no Mikoto; Haniyamahime no Mikoto, Oyamazumi no Mikoto and Konohanasakuyahime no Mikoto are enshrined in the same hall, and Kuraokami no Kami and Hirokuni Oshitakekanahi no Sumeramikoto (Emperor Ankan) are enshrined in a separate hall. The origin of its founding is unknown. At first it stood on the summit of Mount Hirefuri (Mount Sahime), enshrining three goddesses, Kanayamahime, Haniyamahime and Konohanasakuyahime, and was called 'Himeyama Shrine'.
