About this place
Nasu Onsen Shrine is a shrine in Nasu, Nasu District, Tochigi. It is said that Kano Saburo Yukihiro, who discovered the Nasu hot spring (Shika no Yu), enshrined the hot spring deity here, and it is a claimant to the Engishiki-listed Yuno Shrine. It is said to have been founded in the reign of Emperor Jomei (reigned 629 - 641). It was given Junior Fourth Rank, Upper Grade in 869 (Jogan 11) and its name also appears in the Engishiki register of deities.
