About this place
Shinagawa Shrine is a shrine in Kita-Shinagawa 3-chome, Shinagawa, Tokyo. It was formerly a Jun-Chokusai-sha and is also one of the Tokyo Ten Shrines. It is also one of the Tokai Seven Lucky Gods shrines, enshrining Daikokuten. It began in 1187 (Bunji 3), when Minamoto no Yoritomo invited Amanohirino-me no Mikoto from Suzaki Shrine in Awa Province as a guardian of maritime safety and the fulfillment of prayers, and enshrined her as Shinagawa Daimyojin.
