About this place
Dakigaeri Gorge is a gorge in Semboku, Akita Prefecture. It is also called Dakigaeri Keikoku or Dakigaeri-kei. It lies in the middle reaches of the Tama River, a tributary of the Omono River, and runs about 10 km in total length. It is designated Tazawako Dakigaeri Prefectural Natural Park. A scenic spot nicknamed the Yabakei of Tohoku, it is said to have one hot spring, six waterfalls and three islands (strange rocks) to see. Highlights include strange rocks such as Miko Rock, Yamabushi Rock and Goza no Ishi, and Mikaeri Falls and Hyakuhiro Falls. At the farthest upstream is the Jindai Dam.
