About this place
Kazura-bashi are primitive suspension bridges built using vines such as hardy kiwi (shirakuchi-kazura). The one in Zentoku, Nishi-Iya-yama Village, Miyoshi, Tokushima Prefecture, is well known. Further into the interior, two more are built in Sugo, Higashi-Iya, in the same city. There is also one in Ikeda, Imadate District, Fukui Prefecture, made for tourism with the cooperation of craftsmen from Higashi-Iya, and all of them are bridges for pedestrians only.
