About this place
Yashagaike is a pond in Minamiechizen, Nanjo District, Fukui Prefecture. It lies near the border with Ibigawa, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture. A dragon god legend is handed down. In 1986 it was selected as one of the 50 Famous Waters of Gifu Prefecture and one of the 33 Hida-Mino Autumn Leaves Selections. It is located on the northwest side, just below the ridgeline at an elevation of 1,099 m in the saddle between Mount Yashagaike and Mount Sanshugatake, on the border between Minamiechizen, Nanjo District, Fukui Prefecture (the former Imajo), and Ibigawa, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture (the former Sakauchi Village). The surroundings are covered by primeval forest.
