Overview
White sand and green pine at the head of Tsuruga Bay, one of Japan's three great pine groves.
About this place
A scenic spot of white sand and green pines spreading across the innermost part of Tsuruga Bay in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture. Counted as one of the three great pine groves of Japan, it is designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty. It was once the sacred garden of Kehi Jingu, was confiscated by Oda Nobunaga, and in the Edo period was a domain forest of the Obama domain. A pine grove of about 400,000 square meters, a mix of red and black pines, continues.
