About this place
A Kurume kasuri workshop in Hirokawa, Fukuoka Prefecture. The tour begins with Kasuri of the World, unraveling Kurume kasuri as one of the kasuri cultures spread around the world. The representative, Sakata Kazuo, uses kasuri as a starting point to open up new possibilities for cloth and the future of the production area. Collaborations with Nakagawa Masashichi Shoten and the painter Yamaguchi Ichiro also drew attention. On the workshop tour you can see a rare binding machine, and a cafe and shop are attached.
