About this place
The Former Residence of Ito Denemon is a traditional building in Koburo, Iizuka, Fukuoka. Ito Denemon, a coal mine owner, built it as his main residence from the middle of the Taisho era to the early Showa era. The gate was relocated from the Akagane Goten in Tenjin, Fukuoka.
The garden is designated a National Place of Scenic Beauty as the Former Ito Denemon Residence Garden, and is open to the public together with the buildings. The buildings (7 structures including the main building) were designated Important Cultural Properties in 2020.
