About this place
The Ibukiyama Driveway is a toll road under a general motor road business, 17 km long in total, from Sekigahara, Fuwa District, Gifu Prefecture, to Okubo (the summit of Mount Ibuki) in Maibara, Shiga Prefecture. It partly opened in June 1964 (Showa 39), fully opened in July 1965 (Showa 40), and continues to this day.
It is a sightseeing toll road climbing to the 9th station of Mount Ibuki (elevation 1,377 m), the highest peak in Shiga Prefecture and one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains, looking down on Lake Biwa to the west and Sekigahara to the east.
