About this place
Koga Shrine is a shrine in Koga, Horado, Seki, Gifu Prefecture. It is one of the shrines (the Six Shrines of Mount Koga) at the center of the Mount Koga belief. It is also called Kogasan Omoto Jingu. It stands at the foot of Mount Koga (elevation 1,224 m) and is one of the Six Shrines of Mount Koga surrounding the mountain. Its former shrine rank was gosha (village shrine). From the Heian period to the Muromachi period, under the influence of the Hakusan belief and by the honji-suijaku theory, the Eleven-Faced Kannon (Hakusan Hime no Kami) and Dainichi Nyorai were worshiped as the original Buddhist deities. In addition, the beliefs of Gozu Tenno and Kokuzo Bosatsu were held.
