About this place
A memorial museum in Ami, Ibaraki. The Yokaren (Navy Flight Preparatory Training Program) was a system for training aircrew of the former Imperial Japanese Navy, selecting boys of about 14 and a half to 17 years old by examination. About 240,000 joined over the 15 years until the end of the war. Ami has the Tsuchiura Naval Air Corps, the center of Yokaren education nationwide, and the museum stands next to its site. Admission: general 500 yen, elementary, junior high and high school students 300 yen.
