About this place
A demonstration of the "gama no abura uri kojo" (toad oil seller's pitch) handed down on Mount Tsukuba in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, one of Ibaraki's approachable traditional performing arts. Every weekend near the Zuishinmon gate of Tsukuba-san Shrine, the Mount Tsukuba Gama Kojo Preservation Society shows the technique of the pitch. It is said that the priest Koyo Shonin of Tsukuba-san Omido served in the Siege of Osaka and that the medicinal effect of toad oil became famous.
