About this place
Tenmonkan is the collective name for the central downtown and entertainment district in Kagoshima, Kagoshima Prefecture. The area, where downtown and entertainment districts adjoin, is a major commercial and amusement area. In and around Tenmonkan, companies have established branch offices and the like with jurisdiction over Kagoshima and Miyazaki prefectures (the so-called southern Kyushu region), and it also functions as the center of the southern Kyushu region. Also, without touching on the specific geographic extent of southern Kyushu, it is sometimes called the 'largest downtown in southern Kyushu' by the administration (Kagoshima City) and mass media (TV news).
