About this place
Sogi no Taki is a waterfall in the upper reaches of the Sendai River in southern Isa, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is also written with a variant character. On his way back from attacking the Shimazu, on the way to Higo along the Oguchi route, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is said to have enjoyed its majestic scenery. It is 12 m high and the falls are 210 m wide, and it is called the 'Niagara of the East.' It was formed by deposits of the Kakuto pyroclastic flow. Senjo-iwa and others can be seen, and it is a designated area of Sendai River Basin Prefectural Natural Park.
