About this place
Kirishima Onsen-kyo is the collective name for a group of hot springs scattered on the mid-slopes of Mt. Kirishima from Kirishima to Yusui, Kagoshima Prefecture. In the narrow sense it refers to the group of long-known hot springs on the southwest slope of Onamiike and the Nakatsu River (tributary of the Amori River) basin. On May 4, 1959 (Showa 34), together with Kirishima Jingu Onsen in the former Kirishima Town, it was designated a National Recuperation Hot Spring Resort as 'Kirishima Onsen.'
