A cave cut over thousands of years by spring water from the Kirishima range: 14.6 metres wide and up to 6.4 high.
About this place
A cave in Takarabe Town, Soo City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It is said to have been formed over several thousand years by erosion from spring water in the Kirishima mountain range, and expeditions have confirmed its depths. It is a prefectural natural monument, and in 2021 (Reiwa 3) it became the first national cultural property in Soo City. The Iwaana Festival is held every year on the Sunday closest to April 8.
