About this place
Hirauchi Kaichu Onsen is a hot spring in Yakushima, Kumage District, Kagoshima Prefecture (formerly Osumi Province). More than 400 years ago, hot water gushing from between rocks was discovered, and the original form is said to have been made by local residents by piling up or carving rocks. The hot spring is managed by the Hirauchi settlement. Because it is near the coast, it can be used only for 2 hours before and after low tide, and the hot spring has three baths, mixed bathing. There was no changing room, but in June 2024 (Reiwa 6) wooden men's and women's changing rooms were completed.
