About this place
Minato no Mieru Oka Park is an urban park (scenic park) at 114 Yamate-cho, Naka Ward, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. It opened in 1962 (Showa 37), is a long, narrow park running north to south, covers 5.7 hectares and looks down on Yokohama Port. The name comes from the postwar popular song Minato ga Mieru Oka. When Yokohama was opened as a port at the end of the Edo period, British and French troops were stationed here. Japan's first Freemason lodge was also located here. Later, even after the Pacific War, the occupation forces such as the US military requisitioned this land.
