About this place
Oyama Afuri Shrine is a shrine on Mount Oyama (also known as Afuriyama) in Isehara, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is one of the thirteen Engishiki-listed shrines of Sagami Province recorded in the Engishiki Jinmyocho of 927 (Encho 5) (a minor shrine), and under the old shrine ranking was a prefectural shrine (now a Beppyo shrine of the Association of Shinto Shrines). It has a main shrine (including the rear shrine and front shrine) enshrined on the summit of Mount Oyama and a lower shrine enshrined halfway up the mountain, and the lower shrine can be reached by the Oyama Cable Car (see also the access section).
