About this place
The Buddhist relic pagoda on Mt. Hanaokayama, 133 m above sea level, north of JR Kumamoto Station. It is said to have the most beautiful night view in Kumamoto City. At the summit is a white pagoda enshrining sacred relics of the Buddha (the Buddha's bones), donated by Indian Prime Minister Nehru to pray for world peace. There are also the Koshikake-ishi, a stone said to have been sat on by Kato Kiyomasa, Kabuto-iwa and Kanekake-matsu.
