Grassland at about 1,100 metres on Aso, where horses graze with the smoking cone of Nakadake ahead.
About this place
A plateau about 1,100 m above sea level in the Aso area of Kumamoto Prefecture. You can see grazing horses walking and the smoking crater of Mt. Nakadake in Aso. In summer the green is vivid, and in the depths of winter it sometimes becomes a silver-white world. The parking lot area has the Aso Volcano Museum, cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. Approaching, touching or feeding the grazing horses is prohibited.
