About this place
Takamori Yusui Tunnel Park is a park in Takamori, Kumamoto Prefecture. This facility is part of the 'Takamori Tunnel' (planned total length 6,480 meters), planned as part of the Kyushu central cross-island railway concept linking the former JNR Takamori Line (now Minami-Aso Railway Takamori Line) and the Takachiho Line. 1973 (Showa 48): Tunnel construction began. 1975 (Showa 50): A large-scale water inflow accident occurred about 2,000 meters from the tunnel entrance.
