About this place
A water-dividing device in the central Kumamoto area that sends water from the Sasahara River to the Nojiri-Sasahara district and the Shiraito Plateau. Built in 1956 (Showa 31), it consists of an inner cylinder and an outer cylinder. Water taken from the Sasahara River wells up from an outlet at the center of the bottom, and the water overflowing from the inner cylinder is divided by outer circumference ratios according to the cultivated area of the Shiraito Plateau and the Nohara-Sasahara district.
