About this place
Ryumon Dam is a dam built on the Hazama River in the Kikuchi River system, a Class 1 river, in Kikuchi, Kumamoto Prefecture. It is a dam directly managed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (Kyushu Regional Development Bureau), and the only dam in the Kikuchi River system based on the River Act. Its height is 99.5 m, and its type is a combination of a concrete gravity dam and a rockfill dam, a so-called combined dam, the tallest combined dam in Japan.
