Overview
A 356.5-metre wooden bridge over the Kizu River, built so that its deck washes away when the river rises.
About this place
A wooden bridge over the Kizu River in Yawata, Kyoto. It is designed so that the deck boards float away to reduce resistance when the water rises, and is called a flowing bridge. Its scenery, in harmony with the white sandy riverbed and clear stream, has been used for location shooting of period dramas and more, and it is a component property of the Japan Heritage 800-Year Historic Walk of Japanese Tea.
