About this place
Atashika Beach is a swimming beach in Atashika-cho, Kumano, Mie Prefecture. Located in Yoshino-Kumano National Park in southern Mie Prefecture, it is a sandy beach about 800 meters long in Atashika Bay facing the Kumano Sea. It features fine sand in a ria coast inlet and clear, blue, shallow water, and has been selected by the Ministry of the Environment as one of Japan's 100 Best Bathing Waters. It once carried the catchphrase "Japan's most beautiful swimming beach".
