About this place
Tanemaki Gonbei no Sato is a Japanese garden in Kihoku-cho, Kitamuro District, Mie Prefecture. Themed on 'Gonbe-san,' a folk song and children's tale based on the life of Tanemaki Gonbei (date of birth unknown - 1737), it is a facility for enjoying 'flowers, greenery and water.' In 1989 it was decided to develop it under the Furusato Sosei (hometown revitalization) project, and it opened in May 1994. In addition to the Japanese garden, the village has 'Gonbei Yashiki' (Gonbei's residence), which commemorates Gonbei's virtue. Location: 768 Binnoyama, Kihoku-cho, Kitamuro District, Mie Prefecture
