About this place
A shrine in Kumano, Mie. Hananoiwaya, which appears in the first section of the Age of the Gods in the Nihon Shoki as the stage of the birth of the land, is regarded as an ancient sacred site, the "Cave Kumano," that predates the Kumano Sanzan faith. Annual festivals are held on February 2 and October 2 each year, and many people visit to worship.
