Overview
A shrine in Suzuka, formed by the merger of two shrines, honouring Sarutahiko-no-okami.
About this place
A shrine in Mie formed by merging Tsubaki Shrine and Nakato Shrine. It enshrines the god of path-opening, Sarutahiko Okami, among others, and its object of worship is a pair of lion heads said to have been dedicated by Kobo Daishi in the Heian period; the Nakato-style lion dance has been handed down here. It is an Engishiki-listed shrine regarded as the foremost shrine of Ise Province, and since 2021 it has decorated the hand-washing pavilion in its grounds with flowers in a "flower chozu" display.
