About this place
Rokkaen is a place of scenic beauty at 663-5 Takaba, Oaza Kuwana, Kuwana, Mie Prefecture. It is the collective name of the former residence of Seiroku Morito II (East Morito residence). It is a National Important Cultural Property and Place of Scenic Beauty. It has buildings such as a Western-style house with an attached Japanese-style house and several storehouses, and a pond-strolling Japanese garden, with a total area of over 18,000 square meters. It was begun in 1911 (Meiji 44) to the design of Josiah Conder as the new home of the businessman Seiroku Morito II, and was completed in 1913 (Taisho 2).
