About this place
Akafuku mochi is the signature product of the Japanese confectionery shop "Akafuku" in Ise, Mie Prefecture. It is a rice-cake sweet, a type of what is known as anko-korobi mochi: mochi wrapped in smooth red bean paste, with three ridges on the paste said to represent the flow of the Isuzu River. It is known for its "Eejanaika" TV commercials and the character "Akataro". It is sold widely, at major JR stations in the Chukyo and Kinki regions, limited-express stops along Kintetsu lines, service areas, department stores and airport shops (it was once sold as far away as Okayama Prefecture).
