About this place
Togakushi Shrine is a shrine with five shrines, listed below, around Mount Togakushi in the northwest of Nagano, Nagano Prefecture. Its former shrine rank was Kokuhei Shosha. One theory says the present Okusha was founded in the 5th year of Emperor Korei (210 BC), but the founding of the Kuzuryu-sha is said to be even older than this Okusha. According to tradition, Kuzuryu Okami, the local guardian deity of this land, welcomed Ame no Tajikarao no Mikoto.
