Kofuku-ji is currently carrying out conservation and repair work on the Five-Story Pagoda, the first since the Meiji era.
As construction of the protective roof will begin, viewing at various places within the precincts will change as follows.
■ The Tokondo can be viewed until Sunday, June 11, 2023.
After that it cannot be viewed (reopening date undecided).
Charms and other items sold at the Tokondo ticket reception will be sold at the shop (Apana) in the Kanjinsho opposite the Tokondo.
Also, goshuin (temple stamps) and goeika (pilgrim hymns) for the Tokondo will be given out at the Kanjinsho.
■ Viewing of the Chukondo resumes from Saturday, June 17, 2023.
Viewing hours: 9:00–17:00 (reception closes 16:45)
Admission: Adults/university students 500 yen, high school/junior high students 300 yen, elementary school students 100 yen
There is no combined ticket with the National Treasure Museum.
Goshuin for the Chukondo are given out at the Kanjinsho.
■ The Five-Story Pagoda illumination will run until 22:00 on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
■ Viewing of the National Treasure Museum and the parking lot etc. can be used as before.
■ Parts of the precincts will be closed to traffic as soon as preparations are ready.

About this place Kōfuku-ji (興福寺 ; Japanese pronunciation: [koꜜː.ɸɯ̥.kɯ.dʑi]) is a Buddhist temple in Japan that was once one of the powerful Nanto Shichi Daiji 'Seven Great Temples' in the city of Nara. The temple is the national headquarters of the East Asian Yogācāra school. It is part of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara, a World Heritage Site.
