Overview
Uplands near the summit of 960-metre Mount Katsuragi, where azaleas turn the slope red in early summer.
About this place
A plateau on Mt. Katsuragi, 960 m high, in Gose. The area near the summit is plateau-like, offering a great 360-degree panorama. A huge colony of azaleas, said to number 1 million, blooms in mid-May and paints the mountaintop red. In autumn you can see a field of silver grass, and in winter rime ice.
