A shrine on Mount Yoshino honouring the god who divides the waters, with a main hall that is an important cultural property.
About this place
A World Heritage shrine in Yoshino. Its main deity is Ame no Mikumari no Okami, who governs the distribution of water, and it enshrines six deities including Tamayorihime no Mikoto (the divine statue is a national treasure). Also called Komori no Miya, it is worshipped as a guardian of conception, safe childbirth, and children. The present shrine buildings were rebuilt by Toyotomi Hideyori in 1604 (Keicho 9), and the Momoyama-style architecture is designated an Important Cultural Property.
