About this place
A shrine in Yahiko, Yahiko Village, Niigata Prefecture, long worshipped as the Ichinomiya (chief shrine) of Echigo. Its nickname is Oyahiko-sama, and more than 200,000 people visit at the New Year and for year-end and New Year visits. The worship etiquette is two bows, four claps and one bow. It has a history of more than 2,400 years, and the Kiku Matsuri, one of the largest chrysanthemum exhibitions in the country, is held.
