Overview
Two islands in a cove in Sado, joined by a red bridge.
About this place
Two islands floating in an inlet in Ogi, Sado, Niigata Prefecture. Yajima is a producer of fine yadake bamboo. Kyojima got its name because Nichiro, a leading disciple of Nichiren, was caught in a storm, drifted ashore and spent the night chanting sutras. A red bridge connects the islands, and you can walk across from the promenade. You can ride a tub boat, and iso-negi fishing using tub boats is still carried out today.
