About this place
A colony of dogtooth violets in Minamiuonuma, Niigata Prefecture. There are four colonies in the city, and this is the nearest one you can reach on foot from a station. When the trees (oak and beech) sprout leaves, dogtooth violets bloom as if covering the group of burial mounds. You can also see the mountain ranges of Minamiuonuma in spring. It is a 20-minute walk from the west exit of Muikamachi Station on the JR Joetsu Line, and free of charge.
