About this place
A colony of skunk cabbage in Jimoto, Tainai, Niigata Prefecture. About 20,000 plants grow in colonies, and in Showa 38 the skunk cabbage of the Jimoto settlement was designated a prefectural natural monument. Skunk cabbage is originally an alpine plant that blooms in May and June, but because Dokkon spring water gushes out abundantly here, it grows in colonies and blooms early, at its best from mid-March to early April.
