A lookout in Beppu, over the steam rising from all over the town.
About this place
A lookout in Kannawa-higashi, Beppu, Oita Prefecture. You can see the whole steam of Kannawa, Mt. Tsurumi and Mt. Ogi, which changes color with the seasons. Beppu's hot spring steam was chosen as second in Japan in a 2001 NHK program, and its night view was certified as a Japan Night View Heritage site in 2010. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 19:00 to 21:00 you can also see the illuminated steam.
