About this place
Komo Shrine is a Hachimangu in Nakatsu, Oita Prefecture, also called Osada Hachimangu. The Misumi Pond (Misumi-ike; in ancient times sometimes written with different characters) in the precincts is regarded as the Inner Shrine and the sanctuary as the Outer Shrine. It is said to be the ancestral shrine of Usa Jingu, the head shrine of Hachimangu across Japan, and is an ancient shrine said to have been founded in the Jowa era (834-848).
