About this place
A coast in Kitsuki, Oita Prefecture, facing Iyonada, with a sandy beach about 2 km long north to south, lined with old black pines, and selected as one of the 100 Best White Sand and Green Pine Beaches of Japan. It bustles in summer as a swimming beach, and the shops and shower rooms are available from mid-July to mid-August in a typical year. Yawata Nada Shrine is almost in the middle of the coastline and is said to have been founded in 729 (Jinki 6).
