About this place
Kyusuikei is a gorge in Kokonoe, Kusu District, Oita Prefecture. Also called Kyusuikyo, and the wider gorge area around here is called Naruko Gorge, so it is sometimes included within that. On March 20, 1959 (Showa 34), it was designated a scenic place of Oita Prefecture. It lies at the confluence of the Kusu River and the Naruko River in the Chikugo River system and flows down making use of the drop of the Iida Plateau.
