About this place
Yutsubo Onsen is a hot spring in Kokonoe, Kusu District, Oita Prefecture (formerly Bungo Province). It is counted as one of the Kokonoe Nine Springs (Kokonoe Kyuyu). A hot spring at the eastern foot of Mt. Waita, located to the northwest of the Kuju mountains, along the Yutsubo River in the upper reaches of the Kusu River. There is Otake Jigoku nearby, and it was long a place where natural hot spring water gushed, but with a local farmer starting a minshuku in the 1975-84 (Showa 50s) as the trigger, it has become a hot spring area where about 20 minshuku gather. Because there are many minshuku, it is also called 'Yutsubo Minshuku Village.'
